Delete Your Account

Permanently remove your data from Recitly

You can request deletion of your Recitly account and all associated data at any time. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

What gets deleted: profile, all decks and flashcards, study sessions and progress, streak history, AI generation history, notification settings. This action is permanent.

Method 1 — Delete from the app (recommended)

Open the Recitly app on your phone.
Go to Profile tab (bottom right).
Tap Settings (gear icon).
Tap Account.
Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
Confirm by entering your password.

Your account and all data will be deleted immediately. You will be signed out and redirected to the login screen.

Method 2 — Email request

If you cannot access the app (e.g., you have lost your password), email us:

Subject: Account Deletion Request
Body: Include the email address associated with your Recitly account.

We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 7 business days. We may ask you to confirm via the registered email to prevent unauthorized deletion.

What happens next

Immediate: your data is deleted from our active production database.
Within 30 days: data is removed from encrypted backups during the regular backup rotation.
Aggregated, anonymized analytics (which cannot identify you) may be retained for product improvement.
Subscription cancellation: deleting the account does NOT cancel an active subscription. To cancel a subscription, follow the instructions on our Support page.

Re-creating an account

You can sign up again at any time after deletion, but your previous data cannot be recovered. We recommend exporting your decks (if needed) before deleting.
